Routine Vision Examination: A routine Vision Examination evaluates the health of your eyes in addition to a Refraction that determines if any type of correction is needed. Dr. Manello could possibly dilate your pupils as a part of this eye health examination. Contact Lens Examination: Contact lens patients require an additional examination to evaluate your eyes. A Contact Lens Examination is necessary to check your maximum visual accuities, fit, oxygen flow, type of material, and health of your cornea (window of the eye) under the influence of your contact lenses. Contact Lens Refit: Even though you are currently wearing contact lenses, Dr. Manello may recommend a full refit for a variety of reasons. When the shape of the cornea changes, if you develop astigmatism, or when you need additional correction to do close work or read, Dr. Manello will need to refit your contact lenses.
These three examinations are priced separately. Most vision insurance plans cover a routine eye examination once every 12-24 months. They normally do not cover the cost of these additional examinations. If you plan on using any type of vision insurance, always check your policy for services allowed before your appointment.
